Pochettino: ” We need to assess the players tomorrow (Friday) and then we’ll decide … It’s difficult to think that all the players are going to play in the starting 11 – some players will be in the starting 11, some on the bench and some will be out, trying to get fitter …. There are a lot of question marks and it’s about finding a good balance for the team. We’ll decide tomorrow.“

Pochettino om transfervinduet: “ We believe a lot in our players … now we have the captain who is the world championd … a fantastic experience for him to translate to our team. Sure we are going to be better, no doubt about that … I am so happy. To keep our best players was our objective and goal and we have achieved that. If you can’t add a player that can improve your squad, the most important thing is to make sure you do not lose your best players and I think that was a great job from the Club to keep the best players …. If we want to win, make the Club and our fans proud, it’s about being professional, fighting for your team-mate, yourself, your Club and being the best. It’s about thinking collectively. That will be the key to us fighting for big things this season.“
Benítez og Newcastle United sluttede i bedste halvdel som oprykkerhold i sidste sæson. Benítez : ” The team we have, the majority of them were here last season and we finished tenth. That’s a great achievement for them, and a great achievement for us. Now, we have added some players. It’s good, it’s positive, it could be better – always, you can improve, and be better – but at the moment it is what we have. I’m really pleased with the commitment of these players, and the things they have done last year. The things they can do this year, with more competition in the squad, I am quite positive on that.” og om Tottenham ” I would say it is a surprise that (Spurs) didn’t sign anyone. But at the same time, they had at least 11 players in the World Cup. We are talking about one of the best teams in the Premier League, and in terms of English players, Tottenham are the best ”

Pochettino til BBC Sport: “ The effort from the players was massive, it is not easy to provide them a good holiday and rest.
I am happy in the way the players arrived after the holidays, and Dele was one of them. He has been strong and focused and he has shown good quality today. It is important to be strong from the beginning and have belief and convey a positive message. The staff and the players need to stay together and the most important thing is the fans in a difficult time because we are going to move to a new stadium.“
